Abstract

This research is related to innovative pedagogical practices in the teaching of the Portuguese language in the FATEC (Faculties of Technology  of the Paula Souza Center). Such practices have as their primary purpose not only compliance with the syllabuses of the various courses in which this specific language is taught, but also the establishment of links with and between students, so that they feel  as  being  part of the institution in which they study. Whether under the name of Portuguese Language or Fundamentals of Communication and Expression, the discipline allows the use of pedagogical practices that associate instruction with the learning of freedom of thought, as mentioned  by  Meirieu (2005). A reflective student will become a more conscious and participative citizen. To achieve this goal, it is important that the student finishes  the course that will offer him the chosen profession, despite the eventual difficulties that  may arise during the course. In order to minimize this possibility, it is important that the student feels  as an integral part of the institution in which he  studies. The student  needs  to feel that he effectively  belongs to the academic environment , so that he desires  to remain there. In this sense, innovative pedagogical practices are presented  in order  to stimulate in the student this feeling of being part of the institution. The research is based on observations made during the first semester of some courses held by  FATEC in the above mentioned disciplines and presents some of the activities developed  that may generate the sense of belonging  in  the students  that will then feel  encouraged to conclude the course.
