Reflections on the role of the English language in the context of technological education

Based on the concept of the active role of language, developed by the philosopher Adam Schaff in his work Language and Knowledge (1974), the objective of this article is to reflect on how the social role of the English language can contribute to the development of the skills of future professionals. In order to make this work possible, we developed a bibliographical research on the subject, in order to prove the hypothesis raised. The conclusion is that the learning of the foreign language in technological teaching, more specifically the English language, not only contributes to the training of future professionals, but also to their development as citizens, providing them tools for understanding and questioning the different realities in which they are inserted.
