English Day na FATEC Carapicuíba: uma experiência encorajadora

Abstract

This article intends to describe the English Day cultural event held at FATEC- Carapicuíba which involved students, professors and employees. The event aimed to encourage the practice of English and allow an appropriate environment for immersion in the language, creating real communication situations, where participants could exchange experiences and exercise their skills in a practical and interactive way. Students were given the opportunity to get in touch with cultural aspects of the British life, as well as experience real life situations concerning job interviews and another approach for developing digital game characters. A reasonable number of students from different programs participated and some students gave very positive feedback about the event. The tasks developed during the three editions of the English Day offered the teachers the opportunity to tackle topics which enrich the students’ curriculum but which are not always dealt with in the ordinary lessons over the term due to time constraints. For the future editions, the Eteachers intend to continue offering practical activities focused on the culture.
