Considerations on the importance of promoting digital lettering for educational purposes in high school

Abstract

Technology, which brought about perceptible changes in social practices, has come to play an important role in society and new demands have been created around it. As a consequence, a new group of people has emerged, those that don’t know how to deal with access to information or do not dominate the technological tools existing in their social context. Digital illiterate is the term commonly used to refer to them. Therefore, it is necessary to rethink the teaching procedures applied in schools, so that the student, when trained, can cope with the technological demands that surround him. The quantitative research carried with English-language coordinators in public schools in Ribeirão Preto and region, aims to analyze the use of technology as an instrument for teaching and promoting digital literacy, as well as verify if the teachers are prepared to use it.
