Reading strategies in elementary education II of São Paulo State Public School

Abstract

Considering Reading a primordial and fundamental element in the process of teaching learning, organization and construction of knowledge many texts were read to build up the theoretical support for this article that has the purpose to show the value of reading to the formation of a student of English as a foreign language. The goal of this article is to present the results achieved by a pedagogical intervention, which was carried out with 6th grade elementary school students from the state public school of São Paulo, to know and be able to use some reading strategies. During the lesson we mainly worked with the textual genre fable. Some of the Reading strategies which were developed during our lessons were previous knowledge, skimming, scanning. Therefore, the results presented below were obtained through two questionnaires applied at the beginning and end of the project, with multiple choice questions that aim to analyze the results obtained.
