Spanish in professional technological education: challenges in the business market

Abstract

This article develops a critical-reflective (re)dimension about Spanish in professional technological training, highlighting recurrent challenges in the labor market. It is a contemporary perspective that touches economic, identity, sociocultural and political aspects in the descriptive of discursive and textual genres. When considering language and culture, the text brings data and projections about the process of teachinglearning Spanish as a second or third language, shows trends in the current employment situation in Brazil, with report of young professionals regarding the demand for prior knowledge of the language Spanish in selection processes. It also seeks to find out how these young professionals manage to overcome the challenges of learning Spanish. In the methodological approach, a research sample helps in the discussion of qualitative aspects for the production of knowledge and subjectivity. The result, therefore, demonstrates enunciative factors of flexibility and versatility to understand Spanish as a work tool.
