Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to give teachers speaking activity suggestions which we hope will encourage students at Fatecs from different semesters to engage and participate in them. Doing this is a challenging task for English teachers at Fatecs because most students do not give due attention to English as a subject and many times are unwilling to take part in the activities because they have not learnt English properly in their previous years of study and also because the activities proposed by the course books sometimes are not really interesting and fail to engage them in the tasks and as a result, most students are ineffective in communicating in English. By using integrated extra speaking activities presented positive results as students were more engaged in the activities making room for improvement in their communicative competence.
